You think you know what you're doing when you manage your own properties, but once the professionals took over I realized how many mistakes I was making and how exposed I was to liability. In addition to getting new renters, Somers Property Management not only remind me that regular maintenance is due but they also arrange for it to be accomplished. I'm not a believer in deferring maintenance. I think it's more expensive in the long run and having Somers Property Management identify problems and arrange to address them is a huge benefit, especially for a landlord who generally doesn't live in the same area as his rentals. Another really valuable service is collecting rents, and depositing them. What could be easier? I would never be a landlord again without a property manager. Further, the services provided by Somers Property Management have been first rate. If anyone is considering owning rental properties, I can say from experience that Somers Property Management are outstanding to work with and are worth every penny. I needed the little bit of additional time that managing property occasionally took to concentrate on my personal career and I now live out of state from my property. I have used Somers for 3 years. First year was good, however I had a frozen water line flooding an apartment. Had my tenant not had my number, much more major damage would have occurred due to the PM at the time not having her phone available. I have since installed automated tools to avoid that same emergency, however in the past 6 months of working with Shelli, I have absolutely zero concern of a similar situation occurring. Shelli has proven that she is absolutely available 24/7 for all tenant/property issues which is what a landlord wants and hirers a PM for. As property owners myself and friends included, our first concern is the reputation most PMs have. We as owners care more about our property than a PM and PM’s often neglect the property we pay for them to manage. This is absolutely not true with my experience with Shelli Bertrand. I hope she is a role model for her fellow PM’s. She sets the standard.
